How to merge event categories?

Description:
We have far too many Event Categories and I'd like to merge a number of them together.

What is the best way to do this? Is there a feature that let's me delete a category and reassign all events that use that category to a new one? Or do I need to go back to all the old events and update them manually?

A simple approach would be something like this:

1. I select Edit on an Event Category
2. I click the Delete button
3. A dialog appears asking me which category to convert existing events to.

I've seen other apps use this approach.
