Flash banner?

My friend who is a graphic designer told me that he'd like to redo the banner on our site and use flash for it.

Will the site accept a flash banner or does it need to be a jpg/gif?

The banner can be whatever you want it to be, but to make it flash, you'll have to dive into the HTML in the advanced layout options and replace the code: <img src="settings/mysite/logo"> with the code wrapper for flash, which I don't know off the top of my head. It usually uses the <object> tag or the <embed> tag, and I believe Flash will give you the code needed to copy an paste to make it work.

Ok, so we have a concept for a flash banner that has some fancy stuffs loading in when you first load the page. Question is, any way to keep the banner from reloading after the initial login? I suppose we could just do a splash page, but it would be nice to have this as well.

Basically, the banner would have our guild name, then fade in some character screenshots, but I don't want the animations to load every time someone loads a new page. Is there any way to achieve this?

This response is coming a year later but just in case anyone else is interested, you set that in the flash file itself. There are lengths you can set it to repeat/replay or it can be a one time play and stop. I like to set it for play.. put a lonnnnnnggg timeline for movie length, then set flash pic layer you want to loop. Presto.. not so annoyingo.
Thanks for the info, Aliajana.
