Description:
Hi there been a while since I have been stuck on something with the site. We have had a splash screen for a long time now, but I was having someone else working on the site. I have recently started taking care of it myself and need a little help. I have a splash screen that I tried to upload. When I first tried it was a jpeg file and I got the message that it needs to be an html file. So I changed it to .html and it uploaded fine but now the splash screen just shows up as code. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

The splash screen must be an HTML file, but renaming a jpeg to HTML doesn't make it HTML.

My recommendation is this.

1) Upload the image you're working with (for the sake of this, let's call it splash.jpeg) to your Admin File Uploader. This will place the file in http://dkpfiles.com/aoa/files/splash.jpeg

2) Right click and save the attached file, and open it up in notepad to tweak it. If it looks funny (all on one line), try using Notepad++

There you can edit the colors or whatever you need to. The links right now will be bright red, and you'll probably want to tone those colors down a bit.

The attached splash page is a modified version of the old DKPSystem.com Splash Page

It's all in the reflexes.
I uploaded the picture as you said to do. After that I get a bit confused on your directions. Just to give you a heads up im not html/coding literate lol. I see the file there, your next step says to right click and save the attached. I did that and now I have it on my desktop but it is still a jpeg file. Was I not suppose to actually download it to desktop but rather download the like to tweak the link? Im not sure what you mean by tweak the colors and all that. I might be a bit out of my league on this one lol.

Sorry for the confusion I didnt think getting a splash page up was so complicated. I thought it was more like pick the picture you want and hit upload. Time to take an html class.

My god I figured it out. I was going at it all the wrong way. Thanks for your fast response earlier.
Glad you were able to figure it out.

I do agree that it's not the most straightforward process, and adding something like:

"Upload Image here:

Enter any text you want here:"

Would be a good idea.
